This week, I stood before the Colorado Supreme Court to testify during the public hearing on proposed changes to the Colorado Rules of Family Procedure. Not an attorney. Not a policymaker. Just a mother—eight years in the trenches of family court. What I witnessed in that room, and what happened just moments after I finished speaking, changed something in me, and why I now know I have to keep going.

And I think it went really well—because now I understand just how important it was that I showed up and spoke. That realization is part of what has stayed with me most.
